The Outreach Center's Hunters For The Hungry Food Drive

The Outreach Center’s annual Hunters for the Hungry food drive will be held Sunday October 12th from 11AM – 4 PM. Local sportsmen and their families are encouraged to “clean out your freezer” and donate frozen processed game and fish from the 2007 season. Collection sites will be set up throughout Lafayette and other area communities. See complete list of sites below.

All donations are tax deductible and will be used to feed the needy through the Outreach Center’s shelters and programs, just one of the many ways the Center fulfills its mission of “helping to give people back their God-given dignity by transforming lives to reach their highest potential.”

We are also in need of volunteers the day of the event to help greet the donors, unload donations, record them and distribute receipts. If you are interested in donating your time please contact Jesse Guidry at 237.7618 x 202.

Last year’s drive was a huge success, with sites in Lafayette, Crowley, Carencro, Abbeville and Opelousas collecting more than 8,500 lbs of food which provided 25,500 meals to the impoverished and homeless in the greater Lafayette community.

2008 Collection Sites:

  • Lafayette – UL Cajun Field
  • Carencro - St. Peter Street Fire Station
  • Eunice - Eunice Fire Department
  • Crowley – Salvador’s Jewelers and Gifts

Welcome to the Outreach Center

At the Outreach Center we meet people
struggling to regain their dignity everyday.
Their struggles are real, their needs are pressing
and their hope is limited.

They are the poor and the homeless. They are the physically, mentally or emotionally ill. They are unemployed. They are those without transportation, food, clothing, childcare, legal help or a network of support. They are without resources in a crisis.

They feel despair, apathy and a lack of hope.
They need you and me and us.
They need the Outreach Center.

Our Mission is helping to give people back their
God-given dignity by transforming lives to
reach their highest potential.

Restoring a shattered life takes time.
By parternering with us you can help transform lives
one at a time, day by day, piece by piece.
