Garden Work Day

Garden Workdays are part of the expansion of our New Leaf Garden to include abandoned lots in and around our campus. Once blighted pieces of an urban neighborhood, these lots will provide out clients with nutritious, organically-grown produce and will help them develop a sense of self while witnessing the growth of something they planted.

Our clients have been laying the framework of the garden with the help of community volunteers and a horticulturalist by participating in garden therapy every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. They are growing flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs to be sold to local businesses and for use in meals at our shelters.

The Outreach Center’s Community New Leaf Garden is located at 125 S. Buchanan St. in downtown Lafayette. For more information on how to get involved or to become a Friend of the New Leaf Garden contact Rachel Adams, Life Enrichment Coordinator.
