Steve's paintings are familiar landshapes that draw inspiration from the natural world. Lush summer lit sugarcane fields, majestic oaks and mysterious cypress are favorite subjects. In the moment (plein air) paintings capture the spirit of the land. "I try to document the essence of what I see and feel by looking into it and being open to the color vibrations nature sends my way. The healing truth of nature is a wonderfully infinite subject. |

George Rodrigue was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, in 1944. For more than forty years, his work has remained rooted in the familiar milieu of home. During the mid-1960s, following six semesters at the University of Southwest Louisiana, (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) Rodrigue attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where he was provided a nuts- and-bolts foundation in drawing and painting by the graduate school’s curriculum. Outside of art school, Los Angeles was full of Pop and Abstract influences, and it was an exciting time for a young artist in America. However, much like today, critical success depended on one’s New York visibility. Nevertheless, Rodrigue returned to Louisiana. He would use its symbols not only to capture the essence of his personal world, but also to express his spiritual and cultural ideas as they pertained to Louisiana, to the South, and to America. Rodrigue decided that he would not be a Louisiana artist in New York City; instead he would return home with his new knowledge and give meaning to a new phrase: Cajun Artist. |

Troy Dugas
Untitled
Vintage product labels mounted to canvas

|
Troy's work is made from vintage pro duct labels he purchases in unused bundles. He cuts and arranges this material onto flat surfaces (paper, canvas, or wood) to produce artwork that appear woven. He uses repetition, pattern, precision, and scale to distract from the original purpose of the label to sell a product. The material is deconstructed through cutting or shredding and the essential elements of color, shape, and line are utilized in a new way. The immediacy of the graphic label is substituted with aesthetic sensation and contemplation. There is a certain mischievous pleasure in the process of this transformation, and at the same time, a kind of meditation. |

International Trust for Childre
n’s Healthcare, by Robert Rauschenberg is a limited edition signed and numbered print of an original work. This unique piece is not only signed by the artist, but also by former Soviet Union President, Mikhail Gorbachev.
Mystery surrounds this piece of work, from its origins to the limited number of prints made. It is number ten of one hundred, however; printing was truncated and the actual number completed is unknown though suspected to be less than the originally intended 100.
Since the 1960’s Rauschenberg has been revolutionary not only in rethinking printing methods but also in his choice of subject matter. His differing images, textures, abstractions, and iconic figures in the same work of art, exemplified his idea that art can change the world. The juxtaposition of content mirrored his idea that different languages and cultures could exist peacefully together.
In 1984 he announced the Rauschenberg Oversees Culture Interchange (ROCI) to the United Nations to further use art as an instrument of peace. ROCI began in 1991, consisted of
a multi-country tour over the course of several years with the simple goal in mind to encourage “world peace and understanding.” In each country he not only took with him the experiences of his time there but left pieces them with a piece of his own work. It is believed that International Trust for Children’s Healthcare was created during this time.

Hope Hebert is an established artist residing in South Louisiana whose work is currently on display in several locations throughout the state as well as in private collections thr oughout the USA and beyond. Her artwork is a consequence of years of study, which is manifested in her interesting and individualistic use of color and textures; while an Old Masters traditional edge is reflected in her contemporary style. She strives to embody the idea of taking a desired subject and bringing it right to the middle of realism and abstraction. Hope has been influenced by international art, including the portraits of Modigliani and the shapes and forms of New Orleans Michaulopoulos. An early interest in art has lead to extensive studies over the past years in art history, painting techniques and styles. Hope's deep roots in her Cajun culture shows in her flare for antiqued finds such as old doors and windows which she uses as her canvas. She continues to work in her preferred mediums of oil and acrylics always striving to create new and exciting pieces. Hope will be a featured artist at Rue du Pont Galerie et Studio in November / December of this year. |

|
The works of Rick Begneaud are born of place and experience. The impetus for his exotic, collaged inventions began in the heart of Cajun country where he was raised, and then later on, in his travels as the nephew / studio assistant / sidekick to the legendary Robert Rauschenberg. Frayed and bold fabrics seem perfectly right next to photographic reproductions and other ephemera, but most indicative of his “paintings” are the reverberating color and the sense of formal composition turned on its head, leaps of faith that give the work their unique signature. Gallery Owner, Don LeBlanc, states, “Rick’s got a very contemporary approach to image making. He uses found materials--patterns, fabrics, printed materials, appropriated photographs, diagrams. Ready-mades. He creates his own world on the surface of the work rather than painting a picture of the world.”
Begneaud works out of his studio in Sausalito, California, the quaint Bay Area enclave that has long been a creative hub for artists of all kinds. Still an avid traveler, Begneaud seeks out gorgeous fabrics, walls, trees, heat, beautiful people, amazing landscape and language in West and North Africa and beyond. “Rick Begneaud has an eye that cannot be ignored. I am proud to witness his talents. The sense of color and composition are proof of unique experiences and exposures. He obviously possesses some of the old man’s genes.” (quote by Robert Rauschenberg)
