Transitional Recovery Action Center (TRAC)

In response to the overwhelming needs caused by hurricane devastation in our state, the Outreach Center expanded the capacity of current services to establish the Transitional Recovery Action Center (TRAC). Based on research and models of service delivery, TRAC provides comprehensive assistance, with case managers working one-on-one with displaced individuals and families to assess their needs and establish an Individual Service Plan (ISP)/Family Action Plan (FAP) to address each need, including, but not limited to, housing, employment, transportation, mental health, substance abuse, education/skills training, childcare, legal needs and community connection, which helps to avoid duplication of efforts and resources.

Click here to read our 2007 Hurricane Recovery Effort Report for a comprehensive look at the strides we've made since the 2005 hurricanes ravaged south Louisiana.

After the destruction caused by hurricanes Katrina & Rita, the Outreach Center

  • helped 1,278 households (4,500+ evacuees) process applications to access financial aid and receive food and water
  • distributed over 700,000 pounds of goods to more than 70 churches, civic shelters & local homeless agencies, serving 3,226 evacuees in one month
  • estimated value of the goods received was approximately $1.52 million

Today, TRAC continues to serve those in need, evacuees & non-evacuees, by helping them access resources, find housing and jobs, and rebuild their lives to self-sufficiency.

Note from Senator Mary Landrieu

"It is with great pleasure that I offer my full support to the ongoing efforts of the Outreach Center of Lafayette. This organization has been an invaluable asset to its community, particularly in the wake of the hurricanes which have devastated Louisiana. Their unique approach empowers individuals with the skills & the hope necessary to rebuild their lives."
